Vernice Elaine Munoz

October 28, 1943 - July 24, 2004

 

 

Passed away peacefully at her home in Spanaway, Washington on July 24th, 2004, after a long battle with leukemia.

She was born on October 28, 1943, Reuben and Marian Olson in Watford City, North Dakota.

She graduated valedictorian from high school in Mandaree, North Dakota in 1961.

She went to nursing school in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she met her future husband, Gregorio Munoz Jr.  They were married on April 26, 1965.

 

The couple lived at various places in the U.S. and overseas, with Vernice proudly supporting her husband's military service.  She enjoyed traveling and working as a nurse, a librarian and an anthropologist after getting her bachelor's of science degree from Stanislaus College in California.

 

She is survived by her husband and four children;

son Gregorio III and his wife Cathy of Cheney, Wa.,

son Gary of Cheney, Wa.,

daughter Gina Hollingsworth and her husband Jerold of Boston, Mass.,

and son Gilbert and his wife Maria of Fresno, Calif.

She will also be missed by her brother Robert, her sisters Carol, Lois, Jean, Shirley and Judy;

and her four grandchildren, Rebecca Marquez, Marissa Marquez, Jerold Hollingsworth Jr., and Gilbert Munoz Jr.

 

Services were held Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Holy Disciples Catholic Church in Puyallup, Washington.

Interment took place Wednesday, July 28th, 2004 at Fairview Cemetery in Cheney, Washington.
